Thermodynamic studies on tert-amine modified polystyrene based polymer/solvent systems by inverse gas chromatography method

In the present work, vinyl benzyl chloride (VBC) was polymerized by using free radical polymerization. The obtained PVBC reacted with dibutyl amine to obtain tertiary modified polystyrene based polymer (PVBC-Dibutyl amine). inverse gas chromatography (IGC) method used examine thermodynamic properties of polymer. Firstly, retention diagrams some polar and non-polar solvents on PVBC-Dibutyl were over a temperature range from 135 160° C. Then, parameters, including Flory–Huggins interaction parameter, weight fraction activity coefficient, partial molar heat sorption, mixing determined via interactions between selected at infinite dilution. results reveal that alkanes are poor for whereas n-butyl acetate, i-butyl ethyl n-propylbenzene, i-propylbenzene, ethylbenzene moderately in studied range.
